Supporting students

A five-year partnership with the Lemann Foundation to support students and practitioners from Brazil to study and spend time in Oxford.

Lemann MPP Fellows

Each year awards and scholarships are made available to Brazilian nationals (those ordinarily resident in Brazil) demonstrating exceptional academic merit and/or potential commencing a Master of Public Policy at the School and intending to return to Brazil on completion of their studies.

Lemann Fellows undertaking the MPP will have a demonstrated interest in social change in Brazil and intend to use their studies to further those interests. At least 15 MPP Fellowships will be awarded over the five-year partnership.

Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme

The Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice Programme supports Brazilian nationals who are outstanding senior practitioners and academics for a period of study, reflection and engagement with scholars and students at the Blavatnik School of Government. Lemann Visiting Fellows are part of the vibrant community of the School, providing an important link between research and practice, and strengthening the School's mission to improve government and public policy around the world.

Each year the Blavatnik School selects an area of policy being researched by faculty, doctoral students and/or post-doctoral researchers at the School, which would be substantially improved by engagement with a Lemann Visiting Fellow of Practice with outstanding field experience.

The programme allows Fellows to visit the Blavatnik School of Government for three or six months to further develop their understanding of specific policy issues and solutions in Brazil. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on practices in other countries both within the fellow’s region and beyond. During their visit Fellows will be expected to develop case studies and/or policy briefings or op/eds on their area of expertise, and would also be expected to share their expertise on policy implementation, for example by speaking at a masterclass or workshop.

Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice demonstrate evidence of:

  • outstanding contribution to the development and implementation of a policy that has yielded demonstrable impact on the public good;
  • exceptional analytical, teaching, communication and relationship-management skills; and
  • commitment to public service in their country, region, and globally.

Lemann Visiting Fellows of Practice will become part of a global network of scholar-practitioners capable of designing new ways of enhancing in-country and global cooperation. They will return to Brazil after their term of visit to the Blavatnik School of Government, informed by knowledge and understanding gained through their research into regional and global best practices to help shape and influence future policy decisions within Brazil.

If you would like to nominate someone who meets the criteria above, please email recruit@bsg.ox.ac.uk with their name, current position, and contact address or email address.
