biography

A New Yorker at heart and Nigerian in spirit, Adetomiwa Owoseni is a US-based dual Doctor of Medicine/Master of Public Policy candidate at Harvard Medical School and the Blavatnik School of Government.

Born in Brooklyn to Nigerian immigrants, Adetomiwa has experienced the effects of economic policies on the health of low-income communities, resulting in a passion for global health equity.

After graduating from Howard University, a historically Black university, Adetomiwa spent his early career working with the US CDC and Brooklyn community-based organisations to address the social determinants that contribute to poor health. Throughout medical school he has worked with global health organisations, including Partners in Health, to advocate for increased global COVID-19 response funding.

Adetomiwa's interests include utilising global health policy for building sustainable health systems in African countries, which he plans to continue pursuing as an Eisenhower Global Scholar on the MPP.
