biography

Rayene holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Montreal, along with a Licentiate in Law (LLL) and an Honours BSocSc in International Development and Globalisation from the University of Ottawa where she was a 2018 McCall McBain Loran Scholar. Rayene had the privilege to serve as an inaugural member of the Canadian Prime Minister's Youth Council. Additionally, she collaborated with youth in Northern Ethiopia to enhance the well-being and rights of women and children through the 'Born on Time' program, recently worked as a program officer for the North African Policy Initiative in Tunisia, focusing on empowering and advocating for North African youth.

Rayene currently works as an associate researcher at Canada's Research Chair in Human Rights and International Reparative Justice. Her policy interests revolve around transitional justice processes and democratic transitions.

Rayene is a Rhodes Scholar.
