biography

The defining moment of Abel's youth was the European debt crisis. The economic distress his family suffered drove him to think about why restoring the solvency of Spain required a disproportionate affect on sections of the population, and how to reform Spain and the European Union to make sure this would not happen again.

After he finished his Bachelor's Degrees in Economics and Law, Abel moved to Brussels to work in the European Parliament as chief of staff to MEP Luis Garicano, managing a team of five who worked on the economic recovery from the COVID19 pandemic. He then worked as a policy advisor for Renew Europe, a pro-European and centrist political group of the European Parliament, where he focused on energy legislation.

Abel is a Fundación Barrié Scholar.
