biography

Abdel Aziz Dicko was born in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire and also grew up in Montreal and Ottawa, Canada.

Abdel Aziz graduated with a first-class undergraduate degree in Political Science and African Studies from McGill University in Montreal, where he focused his studies on international relations, conflict studies, and development studies – with a particular focus on Africa. He has also recently completed a master's degree in Global Governance and Diplomacy at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

With a strong passion for public service and (international) public policy, Abdel Aziz has had the privilege to work for various national and international organizations such as the UNHCR, the House of Commons of Canada, the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice of Ghana, and the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN. His key policy and academic interests are in the areas of peace and security, human rights and conflict resolution.

In his spare time, Abdel Aziz enjoys playing soccer, listening to music, travelling and reading.

Abdel Aziz is a Rhodes Scholar.
