biography

Giancarlo is from Brazil and has a degree in social sciences from the University of São Paulo. He is an elected City Councillor in Cabreúva, representing more than 50,000 citizens, and a political activist at Escola Comum, an NGO that works to enhance Brazilian democracy through political and civic education.

Giancarlo comes from a low-income background, being deeply affected by inequalities. At the age of 12, he decided he wanted to become a politician to help change this reality. Following an innovative campaign and mobilising people through social media, Giancarlo was elected in 2020 as a councillor, at the age of 20. Since then, he has been working to build this change through political and public policy improvement. Giancarlo has worked as a consultant in the third sector and on social impact projects in the private sector. He is interested in innovation in the public sector, political reform, social policies, and urban policies.

Giancarlo is a Fundação Estudar and Lemann Scholar.
