biography

Laura is passionate about health equity and, after graduating from Monash University, Australia with a Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine in 2020, she worked in a major hospital seeing patients whose health issues were influenced by factors operating far beyond the hospital doors.

Inspired by her patients' stories and motivated to bridge the divide between medical knowledge, policy and health outcomes, Laura has a particular interest in health equity for disadvantaged populations, public health and the integration of health considerations into policy.

Through her time studying and working, she has built skills in research as a volunteer at the Burnet Institute, and has undertaken a Masters in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation to understand how to build and interpret a body of evidence on which policies can be based. Laura looks forward to learning from and being inspired by lecturers and peers alike at the Blavatnik School.

Laura is a Rhodes Scholar.
