biography

Reema is from India, the founder of a national award-winning social enterprise, Happy Roots. Reema has spent nine years working as a social entrepreneur and community rights advocate in the agriculture and allied sector. She has mobilised over 30,000 people across 350 villages in India, working with some of the most vulnerable communities including women & smallholding farmers, pastoralists and indigenous people. Her expertise lies in building community-driven solutions and more inclusive and dynamic policies and programs through dialogue and multi-stakeholder platforms.

Reema has served as a livelihood and gender expert with the World Bank Group and co-authored a regional chapter on South Asia for FAO's report on Gender and Climate-Smart Agriculture. She is a Chemical Engineer by training and undertook her Master's in Business Management. She is passionate about the policy areas of poverty, economic development, gender equality and community rights.
