biography

Living in Mumbai exposed Shyamolie Biyani to the deep and systemic challenges perpetuating social and economic inequities in India. She hopes to spend her career working to reduce such inequity.

During her Bachelor of Art in Psychology from Columbia University, Shyamolie led campus-wide advocacy efforts on mental health.

She joined McKinsey & Company where she worked on projects across sustainability and COVID-19 healthcare planning. Shyamolie also served as a Global Social Responsibility Fellow to host a Day of Service event, setting up private-public partnerships with non-profits.

This experience led her to Teach For India as a Consultant in the CEO's Office, where she launched a volunteer programme supporting 15,000+ students across India. Shyamolie also worked on TFI’s fundraising strategy, where she saw the huge gap in resources available for social good versus the private sector.

At Oxford, she hopes to build on her generalist experiences to understand how policy and funding impact equality, with a focus on mental health and education.

Shyamolie is a Public Service Scholar.
