biography

Yi Yang is Project Officer (Communications and Events) for the What Works Hub for Global Education, at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.

Prior to joining Oxford, Yi Yang had a five year work experience at UNESCO’s International Bureau of Education (IBE) in Geneva, Switzerland, where she served as a project coordination consultant and communication assistant to the Director.

Yi started her career in 2015 as a social media manager with an education technology startup in China, and she later moved to the UK as the London correspondent of WSCN. From 2018 to 2023, she worked at the UNESCO-IBE in Switzerland, where she provided support to the Director and the senior management team in delivering a range of UNESCO flagship projects and events across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Yi was also a respected guest speaker at various organizations, including the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Academic Council on the UN Systems (ACUNS), Beijing Normal University, Tongji University and East China Normal University.

Yi holds a master's degree in management from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Nanjing University. She is originally from Shanghai, China.
